A while back, I did a group pic as a little surprise and a bit of fun for the local furry group I hang out with. Having done quite a few requests and other doodles and experiment since then, I thought it would be fun to do another. Like the most recent pic I did of Sabre and I golfing, this idea came about while out enjoying a bit of friendly sport after work - this time while attempting to play tennis. I say "attempting" because while Sabre is quite good, I'd never picked up a racket before, and the result was...amusing. As it was with our golf game, the conversation on the ride home turned to funny ways to depict our characters doing the same activities. Unlike the golf discussion however, the musings quickly expanded to include other furs, resulting in a highly amusing game of doubles!

As it was last time, Sabre and my fetishes have proven to be quite the detriment while in play. Pumped up and plugged off, Zael cannot even bend to reach his racket, while the allure of a big, dragon-size net to get tangled up in was too much for Sabre to resist! With their opponents effectively incapacitated, it became a trivial matter for the dynamic duo of Caina and Derp- I mean Grael to serve up an ace! At least we have a dedicated "ball boy" helping out...though he might be a bit too excited at the prospect of fetching a big, shiny yellow ball...wait what's that on top of it?

Like the last group pic, this one really took quite a lot of hours to do. I'm fairly happy with it overall, but the sheer amount of work meant I ended up rushing some things, making the overall style look like a step backwards. Maybe it was a bit too much of an undertaking...but it was sure a lot of fun to do! While it's important to try and focus on improving and doing your best work, sometimes it's good just to throw caution to the wind and have a bit of fun! I will freely point out that the perspective - especially the background - is really wonky (you'll note that Caina's shot is going out of bounds). I found the angle tough enough to deal with but, my limited skill at backgrounds only exacerbated the problem. I also noted a lot of anatomical problems, and the placement of the characters doesn't really use all the available space as well as it could. Ah well, more things to keep in mind for next time.
