Comin' Aboard

XennyDiemes

This is a fitting story for a great pic that I have been struggling to put forward and now with this out of the way, I hope you enjoy the tail that goes with such a great piece.

The hot and smoldering wreckage of the once great H.M.S. Arskshire is scattered not to far into the open sea. It's defending fleet defeated and destroyed by a single pirate ship. Not just any ship, or a mere vessel. It is none other than the infamous Night Splinter, commanded by its titanic captain, Darquebane. It has become to regular routine for any pirate but for her, she goes large scale more for funding resources and sometimes just for the thrill of it as their world is never out of adventures.

It's all a show of power they have over the long-established empires, in the new world where fallen angels and demons now live among the mortals. A real post-war world. The crew of the damaged cargo ship Arskshire can see the intruding ship coming their way and try to ready themselves for an impending battle, but their intimidating presence made them too scared to act accordingly and before they could act they first thing they see is the great dark lioness and her companion swinging cross the water and into their ship. As she lands the crew stumbled as her great weight made the ship sink an extra two feet.

The undead crew soon followed and under her orders, seek out and collect any valuable goods that the vessel has on board. Timothy does tell everyone to not be a hero and they'll be out of their lives as soon as they can. At the end of the raid over three tons of gold, jewels and valued goods were taken aboard, only leaving enough food for them to survive awaiting rescue. That is where Timothy does see something that was too familiar to the feline. A young wolf sailor just been thrown on board with sword in hand, dared by his fellow crew mates to take them down even though he can not and does not want to. It was in inopportune moment as the young wolf bumps into the cat and draws his pistol ordering them to drop the treasure and surrender.

Now this is right off the bat the death wish of a fool to order the first mate of the Night Splinter to drop his weapon. Darquebane sees this and is ready to unleash her wrath on the boy but Timothy sternly tells her to stand down and finish the raid. He turns to the boy and walks up close watching him quiver in the presence of the tall, muscular cat and slowly takes his gun. He knows he couldn't shoot him because the position he is in. However, Timothy quickly shoots back, not at the wolf sailor but at one of his shipmates, angrily telling one of them as they hold their bleeding shoulder that they should never send anyone to do the dirty work they can't do themselves. The then walks away and swings back to the ship leaving the wolf behind with his thoughts.

Back at the ship, Darquebane sees Timothy at the deck looking out on the sea and wonders what is wrong and wonders why he didn't just shoot the wolf. Timothy looks up to Darque and tells her that the boy reminds him of... himself many years ago. A skinny wimp pushed around by his betters and get "thrown to the lions" just to save their own hides. He had a good mind to kill them but shooting one of them in the shoulder gets the message out better. Timothy then goes on about how much of a way he came from when he was young. Now he is just as dangerous as his mistress and sporting the confidence of a great adventurer and the build rivaling the Olympian gods. All because of his encounter with the dark lioness when his former shipmates left him to die. He wouldn't have been the man he is now without her. But couldn't help feel a sense of regret that he didn't take him in and has no idea of what fate awaits him.

Down in the brig the poor wolf is kept in while repairs are made. He feels that he failed his duty despite it was against his own survival. There's a good chance that it means the gallows for him. Then suddenly a bright light beamed down through his cell door and with the breaking of the wood, appears before him a bright, scantly clad wolf with great angel wings and a very intimidating sword in hand. With a soft smile on her face, she reaches her hand out to the boy and before the crew can reach to his cell both the stranger and the sailor are gone. What awaits for him is unknown but like Timothy, his life is going to be very interesting.
