And with that the great mayor Thomas James Taggert brought together the warring fractions of V-town to form a single cohesive government. It was a titan's task, one that not a single of us could ever achieve, but he did. It was through his action, and his action alone, that V-town is still here today.”

It was finally with that the prof paused to take a glance down at his notes. Gods, this was as bad as when I was back in collage... no, worse. This old man, a dog of some breed, was quite possibility the only person I've ever met in my life who could talk not only while breathing out, but also in.

And I've spent the last gods know how many years dealing with politicians.

Politicians!

I'd just about been able to convince myself that the bugger was done talking when he started up again.

He'd already been at it for over forty minutes. At this rate there wasn't going to be any time left at the end of the period for me to talk.

Perhaps I should just count my blessings.

I was sitting up on a spacious stage in one of the nicest halls of V-town University. I was supposed to be here to give a lecture about the structure of the government and the history of the city. I was one of the few people in the city in a position to actually be able to talk about such things, having a degree in history and being a former mayor, but I was getting a feeling I wasn't so much as going to get a word in edgewise here.

I wouldn't have minded so much but the dog just wouldn't stop talking about me.

Please download the PDF file for the rest of the story.

    slow claps
It's sad to see him go, but it is a nice and clean ending. The world though is an interesting one and does deserve more looks into it. Possibly from the point of view of his grand kids?

Thanks. And it's great to know I have another of the precious few who have read the entire series. :-)

There was a vague idea of continuing the story with his kinds, hence why they they introduced, but it just didn’t feel right as it really is Tommy's story. I do have another set of books that take place during the same time frame, but from the eyes of a different character who only makes a few appearances in this series. I'm currently trying to get it published, but failing that you'll likely see it here eventually.

That's why I was asking about his grand kids. I figured that would be enough time to keep this Tommy's story, and give another look at the world. Mainly because you left two loose ends. How v-town handles itself without tommy, because despite all tommy's work they still rather depended on him. And what the family will do when Brian Furguson makes it back.

As for Tommy, I know he may be gone from his own story. But i kind of figure he is still running around in your head, He seems like the kind of character that sticks with their author for a long while even after you finish their story.

Heh. You're quite right, Tommy is one to stick around. It's just say there's nothing more in the que right now, but you never know.

And as for Brian... that's a good question. His future holds quite a bit, but I'm not sure if I'll ever be the one to tell it. The world of The Hunters has room for a lot more stories, we'll just have to see what happens.

I would ask to hug him, think he could use one. But he doesn't seem the hugging type unless it's Rebecca. Still i enjoyed his story.

At the end of this story? I don't think he's the one in need of a hug!

Of course not at the end. Anytime other than that. :)
