Found this while searching for music. Is this inspired by Yasunori Mitsuda's "The Door"?
It sure sounds similar, or at least the beginning does. :p

Embarrassingly, despite being a huge fan of his, I wasn't even aware of the song's existence! ;///; You just introduced me to a whole new album of awesome, it looks like! Looks like I have a playlist for the day! Thank you! :D
A large chunk of the project this song is for is a homage to Mitsuda's work in general, though, so I can definitely say this piece and many of the others're inspired by him, for sure! [/longwinded!]

Sailing to the World is short compared to most other game soundtracks, and it's from an obscure Taiwanese game, so I doubt many people will know about it.
You can see a list of other games he composed for at http://vgmdb.net/artist/146 . I think Kirite and Tsugunai are worth listening to since they're similar to Chrono cross.
The project has some nice songs, by the way.

It goes to show that the notoriety of a game says little about the quality of it or its soundtrack, for sure. Really impressive stuff. I couldn't find any information on the original game though, other than pretty much what you typed here, and that it was for PC. Is there any other info on it that you know about? I'll look up those others, too!!

Also, thanks! It's... certainly a large, long project (I think I'm somewhere between 150-200 songs composed by this point,) but it's taught me a lot. I hope to finish it this year.

I don't know much about The Seventh Seal, other than what's already on the internet, but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0g0N7lGtPE wasn't included in Sailing to the World. I heard that the game is hard to crack too, but that's not too interesting.
You wrote 150-200 songs for it? o.o Are the songs just to develop your musical skills?

That's a really odd choice for them to leave off the album -- like, you'd expect the regular battle theme would be one of the first tracks! I recall this happening on a couple other OSTs, too, and have always wondered what the reasoning behind that was. It's a shame it's hard to get a hold of the game, though!
Yeah, somewhere in or around there. I've had to slow down recently because I've finally gotten hired to do some professional work, but you can find all the songs for it separated out into the 'season' folders (and system/events/characters folders) in my gallery. I pretty much just started it to do exactly that, too, yeah. It was supposed to be just to learn how to compose music, and write a story. It ended up becoming a full-time hobby, though!

OK, so I'm loving the music, and when I have more free time, I fully intend to sit down and listen to the full albums, but I gotta ask...

Is there something this music goes to? I'm confused, was this a stand alone project, or is it for a game or a series of animations, or what? Cause I was led here by Fortuna's storyboard artwork for this, and you have the map in the folder, but where's the story?

Oh hey, thanks! :D As for what it's for, it's actually for a novel I'm working on. I've published the first part of it here on Weasyl in this folder HERE if you want to check it out! The embedded music links only work on the raw PDF, which you can download (Weasyl never fixed their embedding :< ) but the illustrations are in either way, including all the beautiful work Fortuna did! :D Let me know if you enjoy it!
