Viridian Busybody - Subnet Explorer

Wilren

An OC of mine born back when I was still part of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandom, but not actually made for that series' universe. Instead, I made Viridian to be an OC for a game series I love, "Submachine" by Mateusz Skutnik.

Viridian was born (in an anthropomorphic AU of the FiMverse) a unicorn with dark-green hair and tail. One day, as a filly, she was exploring a beach near her home when she came across a strange lighthouse...wherein she found herself unwittingly pulled into the dark, techno-illogical reality of the "Subnet," the world of the Submachine series.

Through her travels there, she became adept in the use of "Wisdom Gems" to navigate her way around the Subnet and solve its puzzles, a skill whose proficiency was made clear by her Cutie Mark depicting one of the Submachine's standard circular pull-switches. She eventually came to know a group of Subnnet explorers led by a man named Murtaugh, whom she helped find a way into the core of the Subnet in hopes of finding a way home. Once her part in breaking its defenses was over, however, Murtaugh betrayed her and sent a destruct command to the terminal she was using to communicate. The explosion and subsequent fall broke her horn and nearly killed her. Nearly being the flaw in Murtaugh's plan.

Her narrow escape from the core led Viridian to a place known as the Sanctuary, where she met another of Murtaugh's companions, Elizabeth, who helped her heal from the wounds he'd given her (though not the loss of her horn) and showed her the wonders the Subnet had to offer. In time the Sanctuary became a place of learning and peace for her, her new home.

During her time at the Sanctuary, Viridian's diet consisted mostly of the bioluminescent plantlife that lit much of the Subnet. The strange metabolic properties of the plants...or perhaps of the Subnet itself...caused that bioluminescence to manifest in her hair, giving her mane and tail a soft green glow and making them the color they are now.

Her adventures through the world of the Submachine would have far stranger, and far deeper, impacts on her life in the years to come, however...
