PFRT IT MADE ME LAUGH. Mutilated characters are an A+ for me. I would be curious to see how he looked with his necrosis arm when it was still here

Stacey begins to sing 'if you're happy an you know it clap your hands and it' your fault for encouraging him with laughter.
Mutilated characters are pretty fun! Especially stacey, this is probably the most human/normal i've drawn him looking for a while. And I think I have some drawings of his arm in my gallery /somewhere/. I should really folder-organise my weasyl pfff.

Hah, nice humour, Chauncey applau- oh wait.

I don't know, I sort of like this humour because it's not the same as making fun of someone. Have you ever watched Adam Hills perform? If you look him up on youtube and read the comments you'll inevitably see a bunch of people saying "no, you can't make jokes about that!" but he isn't laughing in a mean or stupid way, he's just observing things as they are, which is pretty much what 99% of good humour is made of - noticing things about life. So when people say "you can't joke about disability!" they don't mean it for the sake of the disabled, they mean "you can't joke about disability because it makes me uncomfortable". I mean yeah, of course there will be some people who had a bad day or with no sense of humour in general but generally people like recognising themselves in jokes and I don't see why disabled people would be different. In a way I think that assuming a disabled person can't get a joke is way more condescending than joking about them.

You can tell I thought a lot about this by how I wrote a long paragraph about it. :P

I have a feeling that Chauncey would get very irritated by a lot of my guys pretty quickly. It makes me want to throw them at him.

I've not heard of him, I'll look him up though! The thing about Stacey is that he deals with a lot of his issues by very bluntly pointing them out and mocking them - he's more likely to say it the more controversial it's seen as just because he's a person who likes to shock/offend others. Though yeah, I enjoy the sort of humour that simply says it as it is rather than mocks it for what it is.

It's nice! Your comments are always interesting. <:

Aw, my friends used to say that, "want to throw them at him", and then we'd write shenanigans. We don't do it any more and I miss it but I'm not even sure I still could do it if I got the chance. But it's nice, hearing that, I guess there's some comfort in knowing other people find it fun imagining their characters interacting with mine. :)

And yeah, I get what you mean about Stacey. I'm not sure I have a character who'd do that to shock or offend people but some of them are pretty laid-back about their disabilities and Quinton occasionally makes people refer to him as Quad.

Sort of like roleplaying? I do a ton whenever I find a friend that has similar interests in throwing characters at eachother. I still do now, it's a great way to develop characters and stuff, putting them in situations they wouldn't be in if they were in their canon 'verse/story aha. Your characters are definitely an interesting bunch.

Yeah, I have a few that had issues that they're laid back about - and others who aren't so relaxed about it. And Stacey is all about getting attention and he's found that the best way to get it is by being as obnoxious about everything as possible aha.

Pretty much roleplaying. I'd like to do that because random writing is fun (and helped me figure out a ton of things about Cop Story) but honestly every person I rp'd with ended up not talking to me much or at all so you can imagine how it makes me nervous right now. I wish I could say it was something I did wrong but honestly I had no clue what I did wrong (or at least more wrong than other people).

            • Link

Oh man I know that exact feeling! I went off roleplay for a little while because of people randomly just.. never responding to me again? But now I'm picking it back up and i've got to points where it's like. 300 pages of rp with one person. And 10+ rps with various others that usually I reply to but I'm mostly just waiting on replies back aha. If you ever feel like picking it back up, you could shoot me a note/add me on skype/whatever! I'd totally be up for it.

Thanks for the offer! I think I'll go for it sooner or later, when I build up more optimism or something, dunno. It's not even just not responding, it's the whole "you're a shit writer and a bad person" thing and honestly I'm not sure which one upsets me more (but probably the bad writer part). I don't even know why I'm saying this because NORMAL PEOPLE only talk about how everyone thinks they are awesome.

                  I
definitely know how that feels, especially when it comes to writing. I'm p unconfident about my own a lot of the time. But I'm sure you're not bad! You write some pretty neat dialogue from what I've seen in your art so that's a good point in your favour, writing wise!

                  • Link

Thanks but I don't think they meant dialogues, more decisions my characters make and my stance as writer on them - like when someone does something morally grey or just completely wrong they don't instantly feel remorse and don't get struck by lightning or run over by a truck. Or maybe they just thought I was boring or annoying, that seems to be generally the way things work - people get tired of someone and then figure out acceptable reasons to ditch them.

                    • Link

Duude morally grey/wrong characters are pretty much my favourite sorts to dabble with. Though yeah, I know people who've ditched me for reasons that I'm not entirely sure of yet. But a lot of the time it is just the way things are with people drifting off, i guess the only thing you can do is just sort of interact and have fun while you can?? That's how I usually see it.

                      • Link

Yeah, I'm pretty much of this opinion myself but nothing seems to work in that particular situation (I tried addressing it frankly, pretending that all is fine and trying not to think of it at all) so I've been a mess lately. Which is why I'm not really active right now when it comes to skyping, I don't want people to have to deal with my mood because of something that's not their fault.

Awhh. Well I hope that your mood goes up soon! >: You can add me any time really, I wouldn't mind.
