2012: Honeycomb Fox

Watercolor fun with foxes! Well, one fox, anyways. :)

I have been experimenting with watercolors lately. Small, tiny paintings at first, but finally I decided to do something that wasn't miniature, at least.

I've also fallen in love with foxes. So I painted one.

In the process of translating the drawing from thumbnail to full-scale drawing, the proportions got skewed. Even so, this was a drawing intended for fun, so I just let it be. Doesn't harm the foxy "essence" so to speak.

I am really happy with this, though later in the process, it turned into one of those paintings you keep trying to fix only to make things worse, heh. Oh well.

I didn't plan the colors when I did the background, and by a fortuitous mistake, I made the fox sort of blend-in color-wise (orange fur against orange sun, dark legs against dark grass). I call it a fortuitous mistake, however, since this demonstrates rather well a fox's ability to blend-in and adapt to its environment. Yay, foxes! :D
