Soooo... It's not turning out very well...
The head isn't as large on the inside as I had intended it to be, but that's fine. What bothers me is all the irregularities that showed up after furring. The eyes aren't even, the muzzle is awkwardly short, and in general there are a few places where the fur is crimped due to the way it was stored before purchase (bottom right picture is an example).
So here's the plan:
What's shown above isn't what I had envisioned. But maybe that's not a bad thing? Let me know what you think, and what changes I should make.
I asked a friend to have a look here, and he gave me some suggestions to pass along. I'll note you cause it's super long.
For the uneven eyes issue, have you tried making a paper pattern of the eyes and then trace that onto the head? It wouldn't do much good now, but it might help prevent that problem for your next 'suit. As for using heat to un-crinkle the fur, do you have a scrap piece that needs straightened out? If you're not confident you can do it on the final product, you can always practice on scraps first.
With the shape of the ears and how short the muzzle is, you could probably get away with turning it into a serval cat.

For clarification, when I say "crimping," I'm referring to an area where the fur bends and sticks out at awkward, noticeable angles due to being folded tightly for too long.
