Jeibu Almos [Game Portrait] by VinVulpis

Jeibu Almos [Game Portrait]

VinVulpis

Sorry for the re-upload of this picture, but I've decided to move this from the "characters" section, and create a new folder for my characters. I'd like to add my various character profile/portraits to the featured works.

I decided to go with a full-body bit for this game portraits. I just wanna avoid any limitations I might set myself up for later on. With a full-body portrait, I can crop it to any amount for anything.

I'm gonna make lil Sprite based Ref sheets for each character with these assets too.

I'm really happy with how this came out. I might adjust the shading levels a little bit, maybe.

Like I said before, these portraits are being designed to share a palette file with all the animation sprites, so that color changes will appear on these as well as the fighting assets.

Some quick info about him in the mean time:
Race: Hibeia
Home: (Is an Almosaean Refugee.)
Height: 4'10"
Weight: 210 lbs

  • Jeibu possesses some lunar and dark matter/energy based powers by his natural affinity and trained by his father figure and guardian, Gejoct, who had raised and protected him after the death of his parents. He is an Almosaean refugee, who like maybe others had to flee his home world after it's demise. He seeks answers for his ruined home world and a new home for him and his loved ones.

  • Jeibu is brave, despite his docile and somewhat timid nature. He'll never back down from a bad guy or any challenge he has to face, even if he is terrified. He seldom expresses true anger or rage as he doesn't like to appear hateful toward anyone, but he is at times very emotional. He's also naive and too ambitious for his own good, and may get himself into dangers that may be beyond his abilities to deal.

  • Jeibu's fighting style somewhat parallels Gejoct's, but has many of his own moves and variants. Jeibu's a style is a bit more unrefined compared to Gejoct's, and he's a more directly physical and blunt in his attacks with some hard close-ranged defensive edge. Gejoct's style is much more defensively tactical, with better ranged play and control.

Special Moves:

  • Dark Burst Jeibu creates a burst of dark energy. The attack his short ranged. He may either do it in place or leap forward for it. Once the burst occurs, Jeibu bounces backward.
  • Hibeian Asteroid This attack is an arcing leap. Once he begins to fall, he will perform a double kick when in contact with a target, and will bounce back after the second hit.
  • Dark Wall Jeibu creats a small pattern of small sustained bursts. They can cancel projectiles and damage opponents who come in non-heavy-attacking contact. Bursts last for a short moment and break up on there own if no contact with them is made by an opposing team target.
  • Suppressing Pounce A leaping grab attack. Jeibu will take a higher, short leap, or a longer, more direct leap and attemp a grap. He will latch onto his target and bring them to the ground by throwing his own weight around on them.

Super Moves:

  • Dark Rift Jeibu creates a black hole effect. If target is out of range, they will be pulled toward the rift. Once in range, the rift will damage and flash the target around inside the rift before bursting and releasing them.
  • FIERCE - Neutron Rift The Neutron Rift variant creates a much stronger gravitational pull and pulses with short projectiles waves. This Variant is generally more powerful.

This differs from Gejoct's version, which is smaller, but significantly stronger both in out-range pull and damage effect.

  • Spirit Aid Jeibu's mother's spiritual power can be harnessed from his necklace to create an entity that creates back-up attacks for his special moves.
  • FIERCE - Great Spirit Aid This variant strengthens the effects of the special attack back-ups.

Thanks for readin! Hope ya like him.

Must have been tricky to do with a limited color palette.
