Photos of the finished Deinonychus plushie (which I nicknamed Feather Girl). Been wanting to make one of these ever since I got a cut of that feathered fabric. I lucked out and had a perfect day for photography, overcast but bright, and of course I have the world’s cutest model.
As you can see, she’s pretty big - about 2 feet long (bigger than the kitten) - and is all hand sewn from 4 styles of faux fur, plus cuddle fleece and felt. The eyes are custom painted and have a following effect. She’s designed to be in a sitting position, with a beanbag in her belly keeping her from tipping over. No wires, so she’s nice and squishy otherwise. There's more pics at my DA page (same name as here).
I’m quite happy with how the pattern turned out. Next up I’ll probably make a slightly larger standing version. I did try to make her as scientifically accurate as is possible with fur and fluff (the feathers even attach to the correct digit!) although I could easily modify the pattern to make a Jurassic Park style retro raptor, too.
I do want to sell her, but I haven’t set a price yet. Feel free to note me with an offer - the shipping will be from Cape Town, South Africa, mind.
