me and my partner fuzclops have a huge thing for creepy matching designs ngl lmao
we saw this really neat crystal growth one time when we were brainstorming gem oc ideas and it really stuck with me at least so we sorta did a thing with them?
amazonite and smoky quartz arent twins or even related bc im p sure gems dont work that way, but nonetheless these two are very closely bonded to one another in how they operate
they excel in subterfuge and analytics, typically being ones to shy away from direct contact and conflict. these two are dangerous nonetheless, and will fight absolutely dirty when they do fight at all, using toxic throwing blades they spit up from the gems on their tongues
it is important to note that aside from the reversed colors, their visual designs are exactly the same. pronouns are also not an issue between them
If you've ever seen the show "Prospectors" on Discovery or the Weather Channel, it's all about several families digging up in Colorado. Most of them dig for the aquamarine, but one family uncovered a pocket of Amazonite and Smoky Quartz that's been valued at over a million dollars.
And the cameras were rolling when they found it, too.
I'm a rockhound, I live in North Carolina. The only state with all the major gems. Gold, diamond, sapphire, ruby, and emerald. Mining's really, really hard work. uvu
i live out in the arizona boonies myself ahha, we have some interesting rocks n whatnot out here too. ive always been fond of peridot myself
Arizona's like seriously one of the best rockhounding states. Y'all even have the massive show every year in Tucson!! Lucky!
oh man i actually live in tucson! i make it a point to try and go to the gem show every year. tbh i have a softer spot for paleontology than i do minerology so i always hunt down the fossil booths first before the rest.
theres one french man in particular ive seen at the gem show for a few years in a row who exhibits african fossils he works with, mainly aquatic life. managed to strike up an odd friendship with him and he even let me hold a dunkleosteus mandable specimen he had this year
My rockhounding club every year does an annual gem show, and this year the vendors seemed to have a lot more fossils than before. I've noticed that you can kind of see trends in what folks are selling thanks to big finds hitting the market. One of the vendors even had a partial triceratops skull! It was so incredibly neat!

One of our vendors has all kinds of meteorites, tektites, and things, and another guy had some viking and roman artifacts! It was so cool.
