Lately I've been taking quite the interest in liminal beings, so I'm startin' to gather up some ghosties and critters for a lil' headworld.

Adlivun is an Inuit entity, both being spirits of the dead as well as the underworld itself. I decided to keep this guy named Adlivun, or more or less titled that since it probably doesn't really have a name of its own.

Adlivun is a wandering canine, neither dog nor wolf, neither tame nor wild, neither tangible nor nonexistent. Like all liminal beings, Adlivun represents an in-between, something difficult to place exactly. In behavior it is coldly docile for the most part, preferring to travel alone at dawn and dusk, which given the way the sun doesn't exactly set that far north, provides the creature with ample time to move about. From its eyes spawn smoky, almost charcoal-like branches that constantly shift and rearrange themselves, burning and blowing away only to grow back again. Its tongue is long and drooping, always hanging from its mouth though it produces no saliva but instead just puffs out condensed water vapor from its breath.

It may or may not speak, though nothing coherent is ever really picked up save for wheezy chuckles that it sometimes gasps out when it comes across remains of dead animals.

Adlivun is not known to be dangerous, though is difficult to approach because it always seems to be several steps ahead of the observer. Sometimes this may lead pursuers lost due to chasing after the creature yet never being able to catch up with it.
