where the snails are evil and the lions look silly

OKAY SO. I have a really big soft spot for medieval art, especially the kinds of animals and monsters drawn in manuscript margins. I’m not sure how to put it into words, there’s this sorta surreal nature to them that you don’t see too much! I love it all. So I decided to (redraw?? reference??) some of my favourite images! This was so much fun
