Like the shape of the tail, dont see to many of those that are spade/shovel shaped.
Looks like one of the "fin/horn" on the side of the tail are to act like a decoy eye. Inspired from some other creature?

Spirit looks really beautiful .... and huggable if one is allowed to do so

  Thanks! The 'eyes' you're seeing are actually long pinions on the tail. Since she hails from space, she uses the pinions and markings to reflect light and radiation from stars, and that serves as propulsion through the vacuum. :D
