“Death”, 8 ½ x 11. marker on Bristol. This is one of my Tarot of Atlantis cards, done back in the 80’s I think it still holds up graphically and symbolically. I finished the major Arcana but never did anything else with it. I have hand colored a few prints of cards from this deck. Prints available.

The Death card in Tarot is almost never actual death. It is rebirth often, sometimes violent or unexpected change. In this card specifically as I did it, it is a ceremony held in the house of the dead, a priest takes poison (that should not kill him) and his near death experience helps him to get in touch with the ancestors or all the priest who went before him.
