I made this piece as a gift for a couple that my husband and I are good friends with. They have had such a difficult go at life (both have Lyme disease to start, never mind trying to deal with an organization that doesn't want to believe Lyme exists in humans), although things just seem to be looking up for them. As they have also just had a beautiful, baby daughter, I figured that Ganesha, the Lord of (Removing) Obstacles and the Lord of Beginnings, was a very apt symbol for them.

So I drew an elephant for the first time (which, by the way, is extremely fun!), and decided that I wanted to throw some colour on it; similar to the ceremonial chalk paintings done on Indian elephants. The couple in mention are also very much into yoga and spiritual energies, so it was simple to incorporate the order of the 7 Chakra colours into the image.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this image, and very pleased that they liked their gift :)
