Tachis fights Koloktos! by Trevor-Fox

Tachis fights Koloktos!

Trevor-Fox

This was my Christmas present to Tachisalopex! I'm very happy with how this picture came out! It was extremely hard to set up, but it was totally worth it!

The pose was something that I had in my head from the start. Tachis loves this fight in Skyward Sword, and I knew the general premise of the picture that I wanted to create. I put it off for a long time because the nature of it intimidated me, but I finally just sat down and started drawing it out.

Much like I thought, the picture proved very difficult. I got the basic poses pretty quick, but figuring out exactly how to position Koloktos's six arms was a nightmare. Especially with him holding the weapons. But I finally figured it out and got a good silhouette out of it. I had to redraw the hand closes to the screen about 3 or 4 times before I finally got it right! That's another thing! Koloktos' hands are SO weird! The thumb doesn't extend from the correct part of the hand anatomically speaking, and it made them really weird to draw! But I finally figured it out!

Once I moved on to the line-art, I realized I needed to look up a few more details. I realized that I didn't know which version of the Sword Link had at this point (turns out it's the very first sword. You get the first upgrade after this fight). And I had to look up the whip that you get in the dungeon for this point, too. This is another area where Koloktos was really mean. He has SO much detail on him! I fudged it at a few points, but overall, I tried to capture that detail and draw it out! His weapons, while having some detail, were much simpler to draw than he himself was. Even the shadow magic coursing through him had a specific style to it.

I added in the color and such and then put in the background. I had to adjust the position of the column a bit, and I realized that the lighting in the room was coming from all the columns around the room. Or close enough to it anyway. So, I put multiple fading shadows under Tachis' body because I thought that would be a fun effect!

This required a lot of research and hard work, but it came out so well, and I'm very happy for that! Merry Christmas Tachis!
