This is a very lively piece. I always enjoy people still working with traditional media. I work with watercolors, oils and mostly colored pencils and markers on my studies and works for others.

But let's get back to your piece! I really like the blending you did on the ears. I think that the piece does suffer from a few anatomy problems. I know foreshortening can be a difficult subject to tackle but the hand on the viewer's right is really too small.

The feet are also too small in proportion to her body. The knee and leg on the viewer's right is not correct either, and needs to be fixed. It's a bit too detached.

The other thing I would have advised is to color the shirt more in blocks than the wavy lines you have used. If you have defined a light source it would have also made it a bit more interesting. The legs look a tad on the pillow shaded side - please see this link for what I mean - http://www.natomic.com/hosted/marks/mpat/shading.html

I do like the energy of the piece so keep it up.

Thank you for your comment. I think this is the first time I've actually had anyone give me feedback in...well a really long time. I won't lie, this is one of the first images I practiced with markers on, and that was quite a while ago, but I do actually see what you are talking about.

I think I started to get a little too excited when I started shading the image. Hence the back and forth idea of the shirt (I think I wanted to make her over shirt appear silky?) I suppose it just comes from being uncomfortable with the idea of block shading and that need to keep it all smooth, I'm looking into different techniques to practice with to help me see that it isn't bad to have different types of shading.

I do appreciate the feedback on the knees. They can be a bit wibbly wobbly when I draw them (all the puns intended.) I will continue to try to improve upon them, even as I explore new ideas. And I do understand about the feet 100%. If anything I would have to say feet are the one part of the body I draw small most often. I don't do it intentionally, in fact. most times I do it I actually try to make them larger than they end up, but feel it is wrong and shrink them down.

I do hope you visit again and give some advice on other things. I really enjoyed this.
