Noonvale Song - Composition

A piece I wrote for a project back in my time doing my master's degree. It was called the Song Project. Every composition student got paired up with a singer and we had to write a piece for them. The piece had to be a pre-written text. I took this chance to write a Redwall related song. This song is early in the book Martin the Warrior sung by the character Rose. I approached this song with a more contemporary harmony approach but nothing too fancy. Funny enough, only one person in the audience knew it was from Redwall, and I would have thought more people caught on but alas heheh.

Lyrics:
See the roving river run
Over hill and dale
To a secret forest place,
O my heart, Noonvale.
Look for me at dawning
When the sun’s reborn
In the silent beauty
Twixt the night and morn.
Wait till the lark ascends
And skies are blue.
There where the rainbow ends
I will meet you.
