Deception Island
The panther cries beyond the walls
Her pain and rage and fear
Shadows creep and blood it falls
For darkness is served here
Last bastion of the bastard race
Concrete crouched o'er the shore
Where iron fish would seek embrace
Betwixt the tides of war
The sharks of steel no more return
But still depravity holds sway
Where arrogance and hunger burn
Amid the slow decay
The panther cries, and heartless men
They feel their hearts grow cold
For they have seen time and again
What no man should behold
Form distorted 'neath the knife
And minds broken and forged
Monstrosities gifted with life
And of it, others purged
Yea, the panther cries this night
Though she is panther no more
They've cut away all her birthright
And left it on the floor

This is what you get for watching The Boys from Brazil and reading The Island of Doctor Moreau in the same night. Throw in a little Bear Island, and you're all set.
This was supposed to be a longer narrative piece, but I ran out of steam. There's a whole novel outline that goes with it too, but I doubt I'll ever find time to write it.
Anyhow, enjoy some Halloween vivisection. :3
