The Dark Wave
I cannot sleep, nor breathe, nor scream
Drowned under dark wave's swell
Trapped here on the cusp of dream
Where madness, it does dwell
The membrane twixt reality
It trembles to and fro
And fled is friend normality
Beneath the ocean's flow
We are no more myself nor I
Skin flayed and flesh recast
Amorphous slimy things awry
We float and flutter past
To stare into another's eyes
And know they are your own
To hear the voiceless mouth their cries
Where pallid corpses moan
And I am all of us and more
For have I ceased to be
A crumpled form upon the floor
That is no longer me
Yeah, each night we pass through hell
Across the dark wave's roar
But I have sunk without a yell
Ere reaching slumber's shore

Some things simply can't be rendered into words, but I felt the need to try.
