Look, it's Keno Neko, the dice cat! I don't sign my work often, but when I do I do it with this little fellow. The two numbers on the side should be the number of the year and the number of the month in no particular order, and sometimes I even get the month number right! I appearantly thought I missed Hallaween this year though...
So yeah, two cop outs in a row, but I have an excuse! I have been enjoying using a brush pen a LOT, but not enjoying only having one color/shade. So I went to Amazon and looked up how much it would cost to get brush pens in several colors and shades. I ended up getting this set of six "Greys" that are in the Koi line and a set of eight colored ones that are the same type as my old one. The Koi set arrived today and I should get the colors tomorrow(which likely means a cop out tomorrow as well.)
I have learned a few things about the Koi set so far.
- The pen caps LIE. Not just color either, darker cap doesn't neccessarily mean darker ink.
- The tips are not actually brushes, they are kinda like sponges. My other one isn't REALLY a brush either, but it is closer to a brush feel somehow. I think that their tips are much wider and softer and that is why, but I don't know.
- They take a LONG time to dry. My other brush pen dries before I could make a second stroke over the first, but these you have to be super careful not to soke the paper and damage it. I actually finished inking, went and got a drink of water, and then when to erase the pencils and ended up tearing the paper a bit on the tail because it was still wet.
- These layer interestingly. Not always the way you expect. It is super useful for shading and fading colors, but it is going to take ma a lot of practice to get the hang of.
- They almost look and feel more like using water color than using ink, which I guess would explain the long dry times.
Wow...this commentary got a bit out of hand...
