Just to note - from here on in, the narrative's point of view will shift between the two lead characters in order to allow us to get to know them, the world and the story itself a little better. For clarity, each chapter will be marked with whose view we're taking. :)

I think that works too - anything that sets a clear division for the reader is fine I reckon :)
Aww, well I don't know about that~ ^^ Like anything, practice is important, so keep on writing! That's what I'm trying to do so that I can improve :)

He certainly has some feelings towards Polcians that could be deemed that way, yeah. He's been through a lot - some of which he's explained, others that he's kept to himself. Whether that's enough to defend his attitude I suppose is up for debate!

using that feature really helps, I think.
for my own story, I used a similar method, but I put changes of scene down as three asterisk's (which shows up as a line across the page) and listing area changes between hyphens.
let me say this, though, i'll never be a writer as good as you!
