This American Mink skull has been beetle-cleaned, sterilized, peroxide-whitened and dried over a two week process by me. I was originally going to paint the skull but decided to leave it 'naked' because it is an absolutely perfect skull and beautiful all by itself. Every tooth is present as well as the complete nasal bones, both of which are hard to get with mink skulls! No damage at all and a pristine white, unblemished specimen to boot.

Fun fact: this skull can talk to you. :p The lower jaw has been wired on and can be opened and closed freely. All it took was a ridiculously tiny drill bit and a little hand-wrapped silver wire, and tada! Now you can do some improv ventriloquy with your skull necklace to simultaneously amuse and frighten children...yay? Or have a conversation with it if you're ever feeling lonely, I suppose. (this is why my husband nicknamed this skull 'Wilson' after the volleyball in that Tom Hanks movie...) Humor aside, a moving joint is very rare among bone jewelry and this is the first skull necklace I've ever done it with.

The skull has sterling silver links with high quality silver beads (sterling, all of it) hanging from its crown. Additional silver beaded links are hooked through the zygomatic arches of the eye sockets. Centered in the brow of the skull is a single 1 1/2mm white Swarovski crystal that adds a little hint of sparkle. It's very tiny so as not to detract from the skull.

An 18 inch silver plated chain necklace w/ clasp holds the skull and will be included with it; the chain runs through a larger silver link that is drilled into the back of the skull.

The skull has been finished with a matte acrylic sealant. The teeth were finished with a glossy sealant after the matte finish had dried.

'Wilson' will be shipped to you safe in a padded nest using a double-box method.
