These unusual earrings display a pair of 100% real field mouse skulls that were salvaged from wild adult specimens that had recently died of natural causes in a wooded area near my home. The skulls have been cleaned by my captive dermestid beetle colony, then gently and professionally whitened. Lastly, I dotted the skulls with receding dots of black lacquer to accentuate the whiteness before finishing them with a glossy sealant. The lower jaws were reattached after cleaning/whitening and the teeth are still present, right down to the tiny molars. Beautiful, tiny and delicate.

Accenting the skulls are some 14k leafed gold beads and one real snowflake obsidian bead each. The skull braincases have been filled with cotton to help stabilize them; the gold filled wire has been imbedded inside the skull itself through the natural brain stem opening. (AKA the skulls have not been drilled or cut, as this weakens them.) All wiring done by hand.

The earring clips are gold-colored brass, nickel free and have closing clips. Pierced ears required. The earrings measure about 2.5 inches with the skulls measuring about 1 inch by themselves.
