Unique Red Fox Tail With Turquoise and Silver by TheSilverCaribou

Unique Red Fox Tail With Turquoise and Silver

TheSilverCaribou

Up for sale is a unique red fox tail from Missouri that has unusual two-tone coloration that runs down the tail, dividing it into half red and half silver-gray in appearance. The fox was harvested free range and fair chase in a muzzleloader hunt; it was not harvested by a trap or with the use of hunting dogs. The rest of the pelt was used for ceremonial Paiute garments, along with the claws, bones and the teeth being used for various purposes along the same lines.

It has been garment tanned and de-boned by me without odor or hair slip.

Sewn into the tail is a double strand of beading with silver fluted beads, silver minibeads (plated) real naturally formed India turquoise chips and real North American Porcupine quill pieces. On the end of one strand is a single cleaned and polished eyetooth from the same fox that provided the tail - on the other strand is a tiny real pinecone that has been preserved and thickly coated in brilliant sterling silver. The pinecone is just lovely, pics do it very little justice.

Also sewn into the tail is a single extra large wild turkey wing feather with deep, dramatic color. I have dotted the feather's spine with receding spots of blue-green enamel to match the turquoise.

All sewing is done with handsewn waxed sinew.

The tail has a sewn-in metal snapclip for hanging and wearing.

Lastly, included with this tail is a pair of handwired turquoise and silver fishhook earrings that use the same turquoise and beads that are on the tail. Just in case someone likes the idea of a matching set. ;)

All wildlife laws apply. the tail measures 18 inches (not counting the clip) and the feather is 15 inches by itself.)

You can grab it off my Etsy here, or just go to see the additional photos. :) https://www.etsy.com/listing/186686592/two-tone-red-fox-tail-with-turquoise-and?

Why do you believe that foothold traps are cruel? (Read your profile page)

Just a personal belief after witnessing a few animals alive in said traps. Plenty of cases where the animal is held without damage and does not seem to be in serious pain, but I've seen a couple of horror stories too with mangled limbs - basically, a few bad apples ruined the barrel for me. I've absolutely nothing against trappers who use them, i just opt to buy green furs harvested by projectile weapon personally. Much easier to sell in the furry community when body-grip traps were not used, at any rate - or so I've found. I'll make an exception on occasion for neck snares since those tend to be pretty quick and clean when used right. My primary no-no is ranched furs, but to each their own.
