The wall

Purple purple purple as far as they eye could see. Strange forms that move like zombies and alien structures fill the landscape. Another night at the international infection research institute, or what would later be named as "the wall" because of rather obvious reasons. A 15 meters tall and 1 meter thick concrete wall surrounded the whole facility, sewage pipes walled shut, all plants and anything organic were removed from the premises once we figured out even normal plants could carry the infection. A goddamn fortress in the middle of the whole infestation, you'd have to go through at least half a dozen disinfection checks in your normal routine day. Supplies were brought in via airdrops, the only safe way at that point, though most supplies had to be brought in from other continents as it has been so far contained on this one luckily enough, though I shudder to think if anyone managed to become infected and get on a plane, a scenario for the apocalypse. Each day the walls would have to be treated with napalm and then with soap afterwards to prevent it from climbing in while the eggheads in the research facility work away on figuring out an effective way of killing this thing, or at least to stop it from spreading any further. Last time when we tried to send a sample of it to another research institute it didn't end too well, so we have opted to containing all the hands on research here. Though morale has been dropping here recently as stories broke out about a person jumping off of the wall, probably another case of infection, people go a bit crazy when that happens, or most do at least. I didn't see it myself, heard it happened during one of the day shifts, those are always much more cozy, far less activity outside the walls as the creeps seem to become more active at night. I think the stress here is slowly getting to me though, been getting these weird tremors lately, sometimes I wake up in the middle of my sleep because of them. It really takes its toll when you haven't had proper sleep in a few days. I would go to the doc, but I am sure he has enough work on his hands in more serious cases. I feel pretty fine otherwise so it is probably just the stress, I just need to get some sleeping pills or something and I'll be just fine, besides, I'm sure the stress has taken its toll on everyone else here so I don't think it is a serious enough case to bother the doc. We have so many security checks here anyways so it would be impossible that I could have inhaled any of the air that was tainted with spores, I am practically 24/7 in full hazmat gear and when I am not I am in a room with the most secure air filtering you could think of, hey this isn't a research center for nothing, these guys know their stuff.
