Another shot from my summer excursion to the Smokie last year. This shot was taken atop the forested jungle of Brasstown Bald. It was fascinating to see the change in vegetation and biodiversity in accordance with the sheer elevation change. Brasstown Bald is the highest elevation point in the state of Georgia at 4,784 ft above sea level and you have to experience the changes in the environment, not to mention the temperature, yourself. Let's just say you better bring a jacket! Anyways, the heavy-conifer laden expanse at the reminded me of a scene from some werewolf fantasy novel (Twilight maybe? Please don't slap me!) and I half-expected some furry bestial quadruped to come bounding through the expanse. And man, how I wanted to leap out of my own skin and join in for my own little wild escape.
