*Super strength: Even without his clay, Herschel is able to lift 30 tons without risk of injury. This increases to 40 tons when he is encased
*Super Stamina: Able to work at peak strength and speed for 20 hours without feeling fatigue

*Size change: By incorporating nearby minerals into his clay, Herschel can increase in size, weight, and strength, up to a maximum of 10", 800 lb, and able to lift 70 tons

Bio:
Despite his name, Herschel Menofski was never raised in the Jewish faith. His mother was a Gentile, and never converted, he wasn't circumsized, he never had a bar mitzvah, and he doesn't eat kosher. Nevertheless, Herschel was always fascinated by Kabbalah, especially the legend of the golem. He took after his mother, though, and loved to work in her pottery studio. One day, he was toying with a mass of clay that had been shipped from Palestine, when, on a whim, he wrote the Hebrew word for "life" in it. To his shock, the clay seemed to come to life, wrapping around his body and bonding to his mind. Though he tried in vain to sever the link, he found himself unable to get rid of the clay. Reluctantly, and in secret, he went and registered with the Bureau of Superheroes. At puberty, he discovered that he was a mutant, with an incredible growth spurt that left him with a body that earned invitations to be a bodybuilder, an actor, a model, and a porn star - all of which he turned down, in favor of continuing to work as a sculptor and potter, with the B.O.S. being a major buyer.

Personality: Herschel is a very calm, studious individual who never loses his cool - except around attractive women paying him more than usual attention to him. The slightest hint of flirting can turn him into a stammering, red-faced wreck.
