For many years I wanted to write a gloomy song about some kind of horrific anti-Bible. Finally I made some headway with that project, and after being stuck with just the chorus for several months, it finally coalesced into a complete song after Scotiacon.
This started out with the strings and cello section, before taking a more 1980s twist with the FM synth bass and Oberheim taking over. One of the Oberheim patches was me trying to replicate the OB-8 one from "Don't You Forget About Me" by Simple Minds. I think I overdid the vibrato but it worked very well for the purposes of this song.
I also figured it would be fun to try a pipe-organ rendition of the chorus and that was strikingly effective.

The verses were written after the music, and paint the thing as an H.P. Lovecraft type book which tends to break the person who reads it.
I intend to rerecord some of the vocals in future as some of them could be better pitched, and also there is some clipping.
