The intent of this is to give some background and an origin to these little creatures known as KaoKaos to hopefully promote easier character developement/origins.

Off where land is sparsely tread by humans, exists a place where a quite lively and enormous (yet small in stature ...kaos are small 'kay?) society thrive. The area is a large land mass in an even larger body of water, connected to mainland by two sizable land bridges on the east and west. The creatures here refer to it as "Paradise." A loan word taken from the few humans who have visited their home, and for good reason. The environment is a gorgeous blend of lush tropical forests, deep unexplored caves, grand mountains, and large snaking rivers leading to many a waterfall and tranquil coves. The area is divided among the many clans of Kaos, though there are "highways," where vegetation has stopped growing from high traffic, between the territories where anyone is allowed to roam. These areas work well as safe-zones, especially for rogues. All of these highways lead straight to a central hub within Paradise. This hub is also named with a human loan word. "Carnival."

What exactly is "Carnival"?
Carnival serves as a common place where any Kao can come as they please without trouble. This hub is best described as sort of a ...KaoKao city or capitol for lack of a better word. It acts as a large market for those that wish to exchange goods or services, whatever they may be, as well as a social/entertainment hub and safe haven for some. Why is Carnival such a non-volatile place? It's governed by a non-combative clan of outcasts. These Kaos have upheld Carnival's state for several generations and only ever become aggressive if someone's threatened the peace. In fact, Carnival is known to have some stronger Kaos act as security in the event anything breaks out, or an aggressive intruder is on their way.

What does Carnival look like?
Carnival is a sizable clearing shaded by a canopy of tree branches in a large valley, where surrounding trees and rock faces have been hollowed out to form homes and makeshift shop stalls. Many larger trees even have multiple areas for such purposes. The central area has been fitted with many things such as stones or logs to serve as seating and tables. A lot of tree branches are decorated with trinkets or other such things to add color to the place, sometimes even advertising the residence or what they have to give.
In the evening, a large fire pit in the center is lit to illuminate most of the place. Kaos have also learned to capture bioluminescent animals or plants to aid in lighting their individual areas.

Do some KaoKaos leave "Paradise"?
It's more frequent than you'd expect for a Kao of any sort to either be adopted by human travelers or just simply wander into the outside world themselves. Their social structures stay similar to the ways of their Paradise brethren, though Normal groups are substantially smaller in number, usually kept as domesticated pets or companions, and Alphas are capable of completely adapting to a human society with their higher intelligence and vocal capability. Some Kaos may even deem their experiences in the external worlds terrible and return to Paradise, condemning the actions and ways of those outside of it.
