OAD-1S3 Scout Dropship by Svaros

OAD-1S3 Scout Dropship

Svaros

The Tolesian military approached Imperial Light and Machine Works (ILMW) to create a small dropship that could survive in space or other harsh environments. The military also wanted this dropship to be capable of being decently armed and have a cutting-edge sensor suite for seek-and-destroy missions. The Imperial Marine Special Operations Command (IMSOC) also wanted something quiet, stealthy, and able to insert a small team of operators wherever needed.

The result was the OAD-1S1, a scout dropship piloted by two with room for five passengers or four fully equipped soldiers. Though incapable of surviving atmospheric entry, two can be loaded into an OAT-3T series of transport for atmospheric entry and exfiltration. Due to the lack of atmospheric reentry capability, range is more limited on worlds with an atmosphere than other dropships. The integrated armament is a single 24mm revolver cannon that can be directed by a pilot's helmet, allowing the gun to look where the pilot is looking. The secondary integrated armament is a small VLS system, which can fire small missiles to intercept anti-air missiles or attack targets on the ground. Additionally, four hard points allow for missiles, rockets, or specialized mission hardware to be added.

The latest version is the third revision. This revision saw several needed updates to the craft, including the additions of a central OmniSight sensor on a robotic arm to allow for scouting behind cover, updates to the avionics, including the removal and rearranging of most flight displays to allow better sight lines for the pilots and transferring those displays to the pilot's HUD. Additionally, ILMW upgraded the engines to increase performance, range, and decrease noise.
