Developed over 150 years ago to solve the problem of an atmospheric and space-based dropship, the OAD-1H7 (often called "Varyah" after an ancient mythical bird) is one of the longest-serving designs in the Tolesian Commonwealth. This four-engined craft acts as the heavy lift craft with a combined weight carrying capacity of 50 tonnes, practically all equipment designed for Commonwealth use has this design in mind for transport. 

The OAD-1H7, as its naming scheme implies, has gone through numerous upgrades that have kept it in frontline service with no real intention for the Commonwealth to procure a replacement. It's seen constant upgrades to software, avionics, materials, construction, and engines. To the Commonwealth, this design is perfect for its role as a heavy lift craft. 

The last major upgrade, the 5th revision, created the bolt-on attachment system, whereby modules replaced the integrated cabin. This design greatly simplified production and allowed the Commonwealth to create new variants. In addition to the standard sky crane and troop transport variants, search and rescue and even firefighting variants were developed for planetary governments to allow them to better provide for their citizens. However, only the military variants are armed with a standard 24mm revolver cannon, mainly designed to be used for defense and in a pinch only. The standard Tolesian VLS system is also installed, providing protection against missiles and drone swarms.
