I've only ever been to 2, but they were super fun and interesting, if only to see people walking around in hand-crafted costumes, and rooms filled with people interested in the same sort of media you are ahahhahaha-

A lot of amateurs (I don't mean skill level, I just mean they're not technically professionals in the art field) really sell themselves short. The furry fandom especially seems to expect artists to make art for ridiculously low rates. It's sad. :C

DA is ahhhhh kind of lame. The general community is very childish and rude. There are a lot of talented artists and nice people, but it's also not uncommon to receive really rude, blunt comments.
Like here are some of my exchanges with people on DA-- http://susiron.tumblr.com/tagged/deviantartOne time someone asked me to draw a 200+ page comment for free, and I've seen people upload edits of other people's art as a form of critique (without permission from the original artist), and also the site itself uses thumbnails of user art and doesn't credit them or the artwork used-- etc, etc
And I swear that every time someone on DA asks me if I take commissions, I link them to my commission page with the prices-- and they just message me back "Do you take (DA) points?" even though my page only has USD prices.....-

Honestly, when I joined FA I was legitimately surprised by how kind the people were because I was so used to general DA shittiness LOL-
I can imagine, holy shit.
I only use my DA to watch some people, so I don't notice stuff like this much. |D I did know DA has a reputation for bullshit like this, though.
