Friendly beach rule 4: (in part): "Your right to complain about the situation you got yourself into ends with the burp or when you let that otter climb on top of you." Or sometimes before that, it turns out.

Beachcomber is the sort of person you could only run into on a California beach. He's an absolutely stereotypical beach bum who makes a sketchy living teaching people to surf, sleeps wherever he can find a bed or under the pier if that falls through, and has enthusiastic sex with pretty much anyone who is interested. He shows up regularly on a pay-per-view sex show he and Callie produce.

Beachcomber isn't a nickname. He was found wandering the beach as a child and is thought to be the child of a human father and a typically outsized river otter mother. Abandoned by his mother, he presented a problem for child protection services. (This sort of hybrid is extremely rare and rules are not really in place.) No one was too keep to adopt a half-feral otter hybrid so he was raised by the beach patrol. They called him Beachcomber because the little otter would pick through the detritus on the beach for shellfish to eat or things to sell.

Despite what should by all rights be a sad background, Beachcomber is a good-natured sort. Eating people isn't high on his list of favorite things to do but he won't turn down a free meal. The fact that people reform here means he doesn't agonize over their sudden change of heart. They got themselves into his stomach, they can find their own way out.
