    SCREAMING FOREVER

Such an awesome, surreal, shamelessly over-the-top 70's movie. It really is supremely culty and delightful.

I enjoy PotP inordinately lot. (especially Swan. Paul y u so attractive??)

    okay seriously though
those top two are flawless, especially the first. moody winslow is best winslow (and a+ on drawing his blind side and still making it expressive as hell). If I wasn't perpetually chickening out on doing fanart I would try to convey to people "NO DAMMIT it's MORE than goofy 70s nonsense" and I really feel that you got that here. ;_; aw man I have so many feelings right now THANKS FOR THIS

Eee thank you, I wasn't very confident with how these had turned out. ; v ; I do enjoy that movie a lot, it gives me so many feels. (Winslow's phantom costume design, EVERY SINGLE THING ABOUT SWAN, recurring themes and foreshadowing, etc. and naturally the music is top notch aaaa)

I do intend to draw more, these are more warmups than anything, hahaha. x3

        The whole dynamic between Winslow and Swan is so brilliant, I could probably write a whole damn essay on it. There are so many little things that you miss on the first or second or even tenth viewing (I still find new ones now and then). Favorite film, hands down, literally my biggest complaint is that it is too short. god... I was going to fill an entire sketchbook with fanart this year for the 40th anniversary. and I've barely touched it because I am so self-conscious about my human drawing ability. but this is really making me want to pick it up again ;_;

holy crap I didn't know it was the 40th anniversary!! now I really gotta draw something good.

Agreed, the movie goes by way too fast. before you know it, it's already over, though some of the pacing is pretty bad.
One of my favourite things this time around was the way Swan and Phoenix's relationship was foreshadowed, http://31.media.tumblr.com/a69bc157566ad0ca8f57527215608b21/tumblr_na20mzKfyG1r1e6jso4_1280.png Swan holding his hand to her neck while saying "All I want is your voice". While the followup is a bit hammy with repeating the words, it's still so satisfying to have noticed that, wow.

That's a good one. One of my favorites is during the scene with the initial contract signing- there's a camera sitting off in the background, and at a certain point a tiny light goes on, then goes off again after a bit. Way at the end when Winslow reviews Swan's tape, it turns out that he was being filmed at exactly that point in the dialogue. Took me a while to catch that.

Gonna comment over here too, this is sooo sweet! And after watching Mockingbird develop as a character, it's cool to see you return to the, uh, ultimate inspiration for the character.

Oh , and Briarwood has already commented twice, why am I not surprised?

four times now that I'm replying to you
I WILL LEAVE ALL OF THE COMMENTS. ALL OF THEM

Ohohoho, thank you. It does tickle me that people think he's Mockingbird, hahahah. Oops.

yeah, easy mistake to make if you've never seen the movie. BTW, you did a particularly awesome job on Winslow's mask/helmet details, the shape and proportions are perfect. Looks totally boss, just as it does IRL, think I almost like the uncolored lineart (2nd and 4th) better than the colored versions....

But the purple palette was an inspired choice!

Thanks! I've seen fanart that's kind of ignoring the horn-like curves on the mask, but that's what makes it so great and adds to his owl-ness. (plus I want to avoid comparisons to Berserk's Femto if I can help it, hahaha. haven't read/seen Berserk, no clue what it's like but Femto's design is p cool??)
I might try drawing more Winslows in openCanvas, while I find it easiest to draw stark silhouettes in MS Paint, the mask, face and other deets are easier to draw in oC, go figure.
