These guys are domesticated to a similar degree that dogs are. There are different breeds that have specific purposes. The bottom one there is used for hunting and the top is just a cuddly companion.

The ones pictured are pretty big about horse sized but there are adorable little puff ball miniatures too.

The wild Gingen are vicious.
