Break time.

Sparkyopteryx

Hey babe, wanna break for me?

Holy Christ on a candlestick, I'm finally done with this thing. This was quite possibly one of my most ambitious pieces to date. For one, this single image has more aspects jam packed onto it that are normally far out of my comfort zone than anything I've done; perspective, furniture, windows and tricky lighting. I also believe my grasp of the male form is a little weak, but this piece helped me immensely in that regard as well. For those that followed the development of this to the very end, I sincerely hope this has been a treat for you to finally see it finished. The progress images will be moved to scraps now though.

You might be amused to hear that the original conception of this idea came from a personal discussion with the other half regarding me drawing a personal piece for purposes of having some eye candy, since normally I draw my characters for him for that reason, but oddly do not draw any of his for me. And Foley is the finest eye candy. <3

Despite it being a marathon, working at this and looking at it makes me very happy. As dumb as this sounds, pool, not only it being my favorite competitive game, means a lot to me. Only the best memories come from it. I did quite a bit of extra research to make sure that table and set up looked right. I would really prefer no critique on this, since I'm *finished* with it, and would rather move on now. I can see plenty of errors and there are things that I know I want to do differently in the future though. Although I would like to remark that for whatever reason, the scan distorted the perspective; it looks fine when I look at the physical piece but not so here. \*shrug\* Whatever! I've raised the bar though, so no turning back now.

Done entirely with Derwent Coloursoft and Fantasia pencils over a faint underlayer of chalk pastel dusting on Canson colored pastel paper. 9x12 Original is not for sale. Character belongs to ![](user:MisterMidnight)

Great details, nice pose. I guess my only real critique is his hands could be better.

Well hot dog these coloured pencil skills are sweet! Considering this piece is what you said to be rather out of your comfort zone, you did a great job with it.

Oh ho, I see what you did there.

After looking at this for almost two months, I can definitely see more and more errors but I still love this piece. Thank you for the compliments; colored pencils are incredibly tough to master, and even though I'm nowhere near where I want to be with them, I'm doing a lot better than I used to! Breaking new ground and all that good stuff.
