Keychains!! by Spark908

Keychains!!

Spark908

They're finally cohesive! Designing keychains is something that's been on my list to do for a while now, and I finally have w workflow that lets me create them!

it deals with BOOLEANS in blender... If anyone has dealt with booleans in blender, especially on complex objects, they'll attest to how horrible, time consuming, broken, and frustrating they can be XD Each time I create one of the 3d printed cages for these style of keychains, it entails attempting the creation in blender, waiting to see if it works, and usually going back and trying it differently to get it to work. This can take hours depending upon the complexity of the object.

Modeling the cage itself is quite easy, I described the process in the prior post I made with keychains. The complex part is separating the mesh into two parts for dual extrusion. That is what takes the most time. I'd say it's worth it though, just look at that detail on the cage! I used .2mm nozzles to print the cage, so, it took a while. This little thing takes 3 hours and 46 minutes to print. No small matter.

The engraving looks a bit rushed because it was very late and I hadn't prepped the cut before, so I had to quarter the resolution of the engraving for this first one. After I hit my head several times, I'll have one or two more coming out that will have severely better engraving quality. One of my most detailed dual extrusion prints yet.. I want more!!
