I've found that I have the mentality of a person who is more or less in-between genders. I'm in almost no way masculine and really can't strongly identify as a male, nor can I make the full jump to female. Faullyn's purpose is to express my inner self, so I experimented with an androgynous, non-gender-specific variant of the character, designed to be able to lean either way at will.
I showed this to a few people and asked: "Male, female, neither, or can't tell?" The results were mixed, and more importantly, nobody questioned it. Needless to say, I was satisfied.
I don't know if this means I want to make a full push to have a genderless Faullyn just yet, because having regular male Faullyn and a female variant of him seems to be working out so far, but it's something I'll be considering.
