Murbian Species Reference by Skautch

Murbian Species Reference

Skautch

Murbians are an old, tiny species of mine sometimes used for cute fun. Better yet, I'd be happy to let people adopt their own! After getting my permission to do so, (in most cases you just have to ask kindly ^^) please do feel free to use this model as a reference for making your very own little murbian, be it a pet/companion or a wild one living in its natural habitat, whatever.

First things first, a murbian's average height is between 8 to 12 inches tall (though this can vary a bit), not counting tail length (and their tails can vary from 7 to 14 inches in length) or wing size (wingspan from tip to tip can stretch from 38 to 46 inches, depending on height). They are very small. Also, they CAN get fat, although usually they don't because that makes it harder to fly.

If you plan to color your murbian, the skin/wings are typically mid-grey but can vary in dark and light shades, the fur can be ANY color you like, the tuft of "mohawk fur" atop the head and all the way down the back is usually different from the rest but is not necessarily so, and the fur often comes with patterns or markings all over it. Take note that the markings and patterns can be in any design and color you wish.

Before anybody asks, yes, the "mohawk fur" can be styled like hair; for example, you may braid it or pull it into a very pretty ponytail, flatten it if you would like to cover the murbian's face like a punk rocker or an emo or something, shorten/buzz it if you want it shorter/not there at all, or do anything else within reason with it that you can think of. (If your murbian is wild, however, odds are it won't have any styles that require intricate work; murbians don't typically do their hair on their own.)

If your murbian is a pet/companion and for whatever reason you just absolutely adore your little animals in clothes, feel free to dress yours up. As long as the murbian can retain full mobility and not get dragged down by weight, go ahead and give it whatever you like. I'm too carefree to give a shit if you want yours all dressed up.

Males and females will not differ much in appearance, and females do not grow breasts or nipples of any sort, as such a trait is highly uncommon among Nolgaurian species such as murbians. When pregnant, a female will lay 3 to 4 eggs. Parent murbians care for their young very similarly to birds.

For those of you who may care to know about their diet, a murbian will usually eat two daily servings of fruits and vegetation, although their stomachs are strong and can handle mostly anything, so if you really want to feed your murbian freakin' ice cream, chips, sodas, paper, anything that they can get their teeth around, go ahead.

If you're planning to go so far as working with behavior, it's important to know that murbians are naturally very curious and friendly, and they love social interaction of all sorts. They have a very thin concept of strange and are completely indiscriminate toward each other, meaning any murbian personality is a loved and valued one among other murbians. Very rarely do murbians who disagree get into conflict; typically in a case of conflict, they will either move onto something new that they CAN agree on, or simply turn their backs to each other, having knowingly accepted that they will not likely interact well. In some rare cases, they may fight, in which case, quarrels usually merely consist of clawing at each other briefly. The only common case of hostility comes when a murbian or its family/friends/neighbors are threatened, typically by predators. To combat their adversaries, they will usually strike with their tails, which have four blades on the end, until their foe flees. They will attack in packs, and their packs will build very quickly. Any other personality traits - favorites list, ridiculousness, sexuality, level of common sense, etc. - is for you to decide.

...That's about it, I think. If you have my permission to do so, use the whole of this information and the base model above to craft your very own adorable little murbian, and if you have any further questions, I will gladly answer them for you.
