A Dog just like this

A very short Thursday June 7, 2018
From a writing prompt hosted by Vixyyfox on Furaffinity
Just a picture to go with some words written with these prompt words: hare today gone tomorrow

A Dog just like this

Along a well worn desert trail, the old collie ranger trailed behind, while the stubby butt barbarian regales the young one, with a dusty pelt, tales of mighty Dogs and Dungeons. The testaments of Old; when a blue merle Paladin of Yore held a felted sphere in mighty jaws against all comers. Scents of heated excitement and great fetching adventures through deserts great and small, galloping through grasslands as formidable as jungles and plucking forth tennis balls from creeks deluged with foamy water.

The dusty pup said she clearly could not envision herself rising to those deeds.

Head tilted, the stubby butt dog then replied; you have shown no fear in this wilderness. No one said you were a replacement. Where do you want to go?

The dusty one wagged her tail. She spake; open spaces to run forth, sticks to chew, pack friends to share sorrow and joy. A hare to hunt today, footprints gone tomorrow. Moments just like this.

The barbarian wagged her stubby butt tail. Knowing that the mightiest evaporate in time like vernal pools in the desert heat, but the canine clade rolls forth like an ocean.

Swim joyfully in that sea. She said to the dusty one.
