A bright winter day in Central Park brought out the strollers enjoying the nippy air as they ambled along shoveled pathways through a winter wonderland of naked tree limbs and snow softened outlines. Amongst the fashionably dressed were two animal headed people; a dark, jackal eared canine and feline. The animal furred pair, youthful in appearance and dressed in fashionable hipster winter clothing were in fact two Kemetic Deities hailing from Egypt. Their elegant clothing acting as an effective disguise. Their animal appearance went mostly unnoticed because it's...well...New York.

Twin jets of frosty breath jetted out of Anubis's nostrils. Dressed in a stylish white and red winter jacket with a sewn armband embroidered with hieroglyphics, he turned his long eared head towards his cat headed companion and in a voice resembling Jerry Seinfield, declared, "Lovely day. What can we do this Afternoon?"

The feline was none other than Bast wearing a knee length Camel coat, silky black trousers and a thick weaved neck scarf dyed in a light, turquoise color. Slit eyed pupils gazed forth at the winding path, spying a distant, erect eared being heading towards them.

"Look ahead," Bast replied in the voice of Elaine Benes. "Do you see him? The lead singer and guitarist of that band!"

Anubus narrowed his eyes, spotting someone not Kemetic, but definitely of Deity upbringing. "It's him! Did you know he was once really big back in the day?"

Bast nodded, "That's putting it lightly. Should we stop and say hello? I mean he may think we're just fans stalking him."

"Well, there's only one path, so we're committed. Just act casual."

The distance between them shrank until one could clearly see the being of interest. Tall and wearing dark pants, bushy tail jutting out from behind. A bristle furred lupine head jutted above a well tailored, double buttoned overcoat with shoulder straps. He wore a red bandanna, yellow eyes gazing far off at some melancholic horizon.

They came within a few yards and halted. Surprisingly, the lupine being spoke first.

"Hello," He spoke in a soft, but deep voice, "Aren't you two...Anubis and Bast?"

Bast tried and failed to suppress a purr, while Anubis's long tail started wagging despite his best efforts to keep it still. "Yeah, ah, that's us!"

"From Egypt, right? What brings you north?"

Doing her best to avoid a fan girl swoon, Bast replied, "Taking in the sights of NYC."

The dark jackal kept his composure, flicking his long ears slightly, "Doing a few non-deity related gigs here and there. Not much call for it back home."

The lupine sighed, tail sagging, "I know what you mean."

Bast asked, "Are you still...working?"

The wolf like being shrugged, "A bit. Do some practice howls. I keep in touch with Tye, my manager. We thinking of putting The Act together again. Minus the dwarf drummer. He passed away."

"I'm sorry to hear that, " Bast replied.

"It's okay." The wolf fixed his gaze towards the city skyline. He nodded to the pair. "Nice to see you. We might do lunch someday. "

With that, the lupine strode off, muzzled face returning to a gloomy mood.

Anubis shook his head, "How the mighty have fallen. Fenris was the biggest thing to come out of Asgard. He even dwarfed the Ice Giants!"

Bast turned to take a look at the now distant Fenris turn a corner in the path. She mused, "Fenris, the founder and lead singer of Ragnarok. And that hit ballad of his..."

"Rage at Lake Amsvartnir."

"That's the one. Say, is the rumor true that in a fit of rage, Fenris bit off the hand of his manager?"

"Oh yeah and he snarfed it down."

"I'm surprised Tye still speaks to him."

"Well, you got to give him a hand for being forgiving."

Bast groaned, "Just for that, we're going to today's opera at the Metropolitan. Aida!"

It was Anubis's turn to groan.

"Seeing you moan at Aida for not being historically accurate is the price you shall pay for that pun."
