Long-overdue prize for ShadowRocketFox over on Twitter, who won the 200-follower raffle I had going on there last summer! Thank you for participating and I hope you're satisfied with your prize! As for what Shadow wanted? Their foxsona relaxing by the riverside, wearing a specific getup that I tried to emulate as best I could!

This project... was meant to be a lot simpler, with only basic shading and maybe a simple background going on at most, but things began to spiral out of control as I grew unsatisfied with how things were turning out and starting applying more detail in the hopes of changing my outlook. It wasn't long before what was meant to be a simple bust shot with basic shading turned into something with a lot more detail going on. From the details on the trees, to the riverbank turning more and more forest-like, and even smaller details like the faint fur patterns on Shadow and shirt detailing that proved to be a lot more work than I had anticipated... it seemed like "MOAR DETAIL" kept popping up in my head.

The hardest part, though, was trying to figure out what to do with the purple behind Shadow themself; for most of this drawing's life, that section was just a big flat purple square that served as little more than a placeholder. Original ideas were to make it look like the back of a beach chair, but the textures for that proved to be a lot harder to draw up than even I was willing to do. I was, however, able to conjure up an acceptable substitute: A pool raft! Shadow's supposed to be relaxing, after all, and few things are more relaxing than floating down a sleepy river in a raft with a cool drink in hand!

...

Hopefully Shadow will be pleased with how their prize turned out, and hopefully you all will like it, too!

BONUS
Frst Draft
Early build of the final drawing. The bottle was a placeholder and I would later ask Shadow if there was anything they'd prefer the character be holding, instead, to which I was informed about an unspecified vibrant blue drink in a glass that the owner likes to associate with their dark-furred fox. The lemon slice was inspired by another drawing that RocketFox provided.

But the biggest change was the background, which was originally going to be far more encompassing. I reeled things back since the final pic was meant to be much more simple in layout (only for me to apply tons of detail, anyway), but it actually did go through a few layout changes before I ultimately decided on the left-right split layout you see in the finished pic above.
