The name of this type of earrings, Elwen, means 'Star Maiden'.

These earrings are made using fine silver jump rings with genuine rubies hanging from the bottoms. The studs are made from nickel-free stainless steel. The earrings measure about 1 and 1/2 inches long (4 centimetres).

Fine silver is 99.9% silver, unlike sterling, which is only 92.5% silver. Fine silver is far more tarnish resistant. This fine silver is full hard temper, which is the equivalent of half hard temper for sterling silver, which is what most sterling silver chainmaille tends to be. As with ANY silver, it is a softer metal than aluminum or stainless, so of course, you must be more caring with it, as you would with any fine jewellery.
