Nakano, Smug Wizard Griffin by ScruffyBrush

Nakano, Smug Wizard Griffin

ScruffyBrush

Pixelart commission for Nakano

The prompt for this one was their griffin dressed up as a wizard.
(My favorite kind of prompt is probably TTRPG characters tbh so I was really happy to get that one :3)

Sketched 3 ideas ^

- First one friend referred to as Jojo-ey by a friend lol that was accidental but I see it now. Main idea about that one was I wanted to have a mage in some kind of armor, randomly thinking to myself how it's weird that mages are always depicted not wearing armor in medieval fantasy setting, which imho is mostly because dnd-game balanced forced that everywhere and I wanted to try making a mage in badass armor instead of flimsy clothes for a change gosh darnit.
Then my bf pointed out : No, it's because mages are so badass they don't need armor and he's gd right... fuck.

The idea of that one is he's telepathically flipping the pages and prepping a spell while looking how it ends (or pretending he don't remember for show)

  • Second one is kind of self explanatory, but definitely big Avatar:TLA inspiration I think. Damn I love that show, also love Dragon Prince by (some of?) the same writers

  • Last one is : They shut the book having found what they needed and looking real smug about it. Shadow Wizard Money Gang about to cast some spells vibes.

They picked that last one but wanted a big wizard hat which makes a lot of sense and are always real fun to draw, whenever I draw foldy cloths I have to hold back to not end up like : [cursed overly detailed feet in an otherwise regular looking pic].
I don't have a thing for cloth but I try to have pieces cohesively detailed and it turns out I struggle to keep up the quality of everything else if I push hats too high.
I have the TF2 curse.
