Lately been trying to experiment more with more dynamic poses or compositions, very happy with this one. People often praise my pixels saying they remind them of oldschool games and that's very nice of them to say :3

Strangely immediate family didn't own a console until I was 10 so my first console was the gamecube but I do find inspiration a lot in older 2D games and was exposed a lot to them from MSDOS games disk collections and playing them at cousins and friends.

Asked to hear some about the character and learned they liked hockey so went there and was thinking a bit about Blades of Steel while making it :>
I was never a fan of sports game but a friend showed me how if you kept tackling the same player a few times you then started a hulking out boxing fight which was both really funny and more fun than the core gameplay, so we just constantly forced it to happen for an entire match, good memory.

More relevant to the piece itself one thing that struck me as I was making it is how weird it is that despite having had a lion fursona for quite some time now I think(?) this is the first time I'm being commissioned for a lion piece. I love drawing our floofy manes, digital or pixelart it's fun to just go ham and texture a bunch of very flowy long hair everywhere :3
