So I would just like to say I AM SO DAMN PROUD OF MYSELF >u< Now, I think the idea that "using references is bad" is probably the lamest and most backwards shit an artist can say, but simultaneously, I am so freaking proud that I did this without any refs! XD Some of you may have seen the skin study I did of Edward from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and this is the resulting ref-less challenge I set for myself :D I have to say I like it quite a bit >u< Tho I definitely have more to learn, so I'll be doing more studies :3

I do enjoy how I'm seeing my style emerge in my tighter paintings, although this is still pretty loose and gestural since I wanted to complete it fairly quick. In my traditional acrylic stuff I usually end up adding some pretty wacky colors just for the hell of it, which I haven't done here, but I'm going to work on getting more comfortable with digital so I can experiment more freely :D

Also I still have no idea what to do with his hair... or how many braids he has XD

Oh yeah, and this has no filters or edits on it at all; I added a couple but I like the raw painting a lot better >u<
