I guess, it does involve self love ahah. The snake and the man in its coils are the same people. They are a race of shapeshifters that embody a beast as well as the man. Sassha happens to be a mage that specializes in mind manipulation and hypnotism. This scene is set within a sort of "Mind Castle" created by Sassha that he uses to consult the snake or self to help him strategize through problems. Its really complicated.
