This past Friday, an artist that I follow was doing a livestream and testing out some new digital art software. During the back half of the stream, he announced that he would be doing some bust images for people who were attending the stream. I was one of the people fortunate enough to get one of these bust shots.

Zaezar had asked for a reference and a couple words as a prompt. I went with "Try drawing this character doing paintball stuff." and this is what he made. Zae decided to be a bit funny and make it look like I was saying "Paintball Stuff" in the picture.

Funny as it is it actually reminds me of something. Bear in mind I've been playing this sport for 12 or 13 years now. There's a field I frequent nearby that attracts players with a range of skill levels. A number of the more experienced players, myself included, have worked to foster a specific culture at this location. That culture is, essentially, based around the idea that it's okay to be new, as long as you try to learn. Also, it's okay for really experienced players to win a lot as long as they help newer people to have a fun time. Nobody likes to get shot up 30 seconds into a game after all. In practice, this usually means all the experienced guys sit in a corner and answer questions when new guys are confused as to how they got beaten.

As a result of this, there have been a number of occasions where I've been called upon to explain different concepts to newer players. Essentially, I've had to define "Paintball Stuff" for people on a number of occasions. A few weeks ago, for example, three different people asked me for help with their posture because they were having trouble aiming.

TL:DR "Paintball Stuff" was meant as a joke but kind of works out because I usually end up explaining things to newbies at the field.
